Basically, this would implement the ranks 1-30 and A for SeeD operatives only. Your initial rank would come from the quality of your profile (possible ranks 1 through 10), if you started as a SeeD operative. If you started as a candidate, your rank would come from how well you do on the field exam and written exam (1-10 for each, averaged together to get your starting rank). From there, undergoing missions would be the only means of raising your rank.

Ailyn walked into the cafeteria, sniffing in anticipation, as her stomach grumbled. She scanned the selections for the day and grinned. There was hot dogs, turkey clubs, and pizza. After a moment of indecision, she chose the club, along with fries and a side of broccoli with ranch dressing. Taking her tray to an empty table, she pulled out her pocket notebook and began to look over the material from Instructor Sjet's class the day before.

They walked down the main street of Balamb and headed toward the harbor. On the side, overlooking the docks was a pretty outdoor restaurant. It wasn't very busy just yet since it was still a bit early for the lunch rush. They walked up to a table and he pulled back a chair for Nell to sit in as he looked out over the harbor for just a moment. The bright light shining into the calm sea made for a very pleasant atmosphere for dining.
